Our J$120,000
scholarship winner this year is Ms. Taneica Vassell.
The scholarship has been increased this year from $100,000 to $120,000;
and the bursaries have increased from $20,000 to $25,000 each. Three
J$25,000 bursaries were awarded to:

Our J$100,000.00 scholarship winner
this year is Mr. Ben Sinclair, from the Faculty
of Pure and Applied Sciences. Three J$20,000.00 bursaries were awarded

Kaysia Johnson
- Faculty of Humanities and Education.
Huntley McPherson
- Faculty of Social Sciences.
A J$5,000.00 award was also
given to Ramonia Brown

Scholarship and Bursaries
2001
Denese Lloyd is the lucky recipient of the recently
increased 2001 Scholarship given annually by the UWI Alumni Association
(Jamaica Chapter). This final year student will now be able to finish
her Faculty of Arts Education, B.A. Mass Communications degree.
Celia Davidson Francis, the Executive Director
is delighted that the value of the scholarship has been increased
from J$25,000.00 to J$100.000.00 through the
GREAT THINGS Programme; through which donations can be made
to scholarships and bursaries, the Campus Centre and other projects.
In addition the three annual bursaries offered have been increased
from J$10,000.00 to J$20,000.00 and will assist the following students
to attain their degrees:
Kadria Fairclough - Faculty of Pure and
Applied Sciences - studies leading to B.Sc. (Chemistry and Management)
degree.
Koren Witter - Faculty of Arts and Education
- studies leading to the B.Ed. (School of Librarianship) degree.
And sharing the final bursary (i.e. J$10,000.00
each):
Mr. Jerine Thomas - Faculty of Social Sciences
- studies leading to the B.Sc. (International Relations) degree.
Alicia Wright - Faculty of Social Sciences
- studies leading to the B.Sc. (Sociology and Psychology) degree.
The UWI Alumni Association (Jamaica Chapter) remains
