"Excellence
Demands Commitment"
The involvement of each UWI graduate in raising
funds is vital. Even a modest contribution is a building
block. Your annual gift/pledge provides immediate support
and will ensure that current and future students can
become UWI alumni.
There are over 40,000 UWI graduates in Jamaica. If the
UWIAA received just $1000 from each graduate for "GREAT
THINGS for UWI," we would have $40 Million annually
to spend on infrastructure, equipment, scholarships,
research and programming. Alumni contributions large
and small make the preservation of our University
possible. Won't you help the graduating classes of 2004-2007
and beyond - TODAY!

The GREAT THINGS Programme
|
 |
|
She was integrally involved with campus life
and her loyal contribution has left solid imprints on many hearts.
The name GREAT THINGS is derived from the initials of her first
and last names and in her honour, the GREAT THINGS Programme will
encompass already existing projects, funds, scholarships and bursaries
and incorporate additional ways to allow Alumni to assist University,
community and national projects.
By contributing to GREAT THINGS, all Alumni can
share her spirit, honour her memory and be "Proud to be making a
difference."
|
|
GREAT THINGS offers Alumni choices to support
research and academic priorities as well as student initiatives
and community based projects. This programme was launched on November
1, 2000 with funds donated by her cousin, Dr. Stefan Maxwell, himself
a distinguished alumnus of the Mona Campus, who will be here to
make the presentation and see his son graduate from the Faculty
of Medicine, at the Mona Campus.
What will GREAT THINGS
do?

Dedication to the late Gloria Thompson
The Faculty of Social Sciences, in association with the UWI Alumni Association,
formally dedicated one of the Faculty's gardens to the memory of the late
Gloria Thompson, former UWI employee. Mrs. Thompson served for 48 years.
the garden will serve as a haven for students and employees and also as
a tribute to Mrs. Thompson's appreciation of nature. The UWIAA's GREAT
THINGS FOR UWI programme's name is coined from the initials of Mrs. Thompson's
initials, in her honour.
