CARIMAC ALUMNI ASSOCIATION ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
The Inaugural Meeting was held on Saturday, January 18, 2003 at 2:00pm

December 27, 2002

Dear Graduate,

As you are probably aware, the CARIMAC Alumni Association (CAA) was launched on October 27, 2001 by the CARIMAC Advocates, a group of graduates who have come together to initiate the Association among other things. Since that time, some members of that group had been busy putting plans into place to hold our inaugural general meeting. We are now happy to announce that that meeting was held on Saturday, January 18, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at CARIMAC.

We had hoped to accomplish several things at that meeting. These included the election of the Executive for 2003, the ratification of our Constitution as well as discussion on the kind of role the Association should be playing as far as the Institute is concerned.

We are also pleased to announce that since the launching of the Association we have taken on a number of small projects. These included the establishment of the Patrick Bryan Trust Fund. This Fund was set up to assist in the education of the children of Patrick Bryan, a former employee of CARIMAC who was killed in a motor vehicle accident in March 2002. We have also instituted an annual CARIMAC Alumni Association Award to the value of J$10,000 for the most outstanding final year CARIMAC student. This year the award was made to Patrick Prendergast.

We realize that there are many more activities for an Association like ours to be involved in and that is why we urge you to make every effort to attend the general meetings so that you can contribute in a meaningful way to the success of this Association.

Download the agenda for the January Annual General Meeting, a proposed Constitution, a proposed annual calendar of events, membership form, and a list of benefits.

We kindly ask that you complete the membership form and return it to CARIMAC as soon as possible with your fees so that we can begin processing your application. Cheques should be made payable to CARIMAC Alumni Association.

Please note that once you have joined the CAA, you will automatically become a member of our parent body, The UWI Alumni Association (formerly Guild of Graduates). As such, you will be entitled to all the Association’s Guild Plus and University benefits and you will be issued a UWI Alumni Association membership card. You can also join the CAA/UWI Alumni Association by obtaining the UWI Guild of Graduates Keycard at any branch of the National Commercial Bank or the UWI Alumni Association Office at 1 Gibraltar Camp Road, Mona Campus.

We also ask that you spread the word about our next meeting, as we want maximum attendance. Ask persons you may know who are graduates of CARIMAC to contact Livingston White, Corinne Barnes or Gayon Davis at telephone number 977-1397-9 or 927-1481, email: carimac.alumni@uwimona.edu.jm or fax 977-1597.

Sincerely,
CARIMAC ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
Livingston White

P.S. It is important that you call us at CARIMAC to confirm your attendance at the next meeting so that appropriate accommodations can be arranged.
